The 10th Open Backgammon Tournament held in Rotterdam
The 10th Rotterdam Open Backgammon Tournament and the 1st Rotterdam Poker Tournament were held in Cafe Spiegel in the Netherlands opened Friday, November 10, 2006. The organizers of the event have made sure that all of the players for the tournaments would be comfortable while playing and even brought in perfect tables where players can play backgammon.
Some of the best backgammon players on the circuit competed in the event. The warm-ups for the Backgammon tournament began around 8:00 p.m. in the evening. Winners for the events will receive a Snowie Pro Disc Edition 4 given by the tournament's sponsor, SnowieGroup. Regular backgammon tournament player Guido Hehmann from Hannover, Germany and number l Heyerman fought it out in the finals with number l Heyerman, who is known throughout the backgammon circuit as "the Wall," emerging as the victorious player on the match.
Nol Heyerman is a former striker for the Sparta Rotterdam Football Club and played backgammon for a long time as a hobby. Surprisingly, he has never even read a backgammon book and despite experiencing technical difficulties, has managed to survive and win.
