To hit your opponents blot is an excellent idea. A blot is a single backgammon checker resting on any space on the board. When one or more checkers of the same color or checkers belonging to the same player land up or come to rest up on his blot then that blot becomes a point for as long as there are two or more checkers of the same color resting upon it. This “point” is owned exclusively by the player and his opponent cannot bring his checker to touch down upon it or even rest upon it if he is making a move with only one checker for the sum total of his dice throw.
If however a player happens to touch down on or come to rest on an opponent player’s blot while moving across the board either in an entire single move or in a move taken with two separate backgammon checkers, then the blot that he touches will be eliminated from the game as it takes a “hit.”
This eliminated checker has to be then re-entered into the game. The checker is removed to the bar where it is kept until the player is able to re-enter it into the game which has to be accomplished through the home board of the opponent.
