Diamond Backgammon Set For Sale at the International Colored Stone Association Congress

Years and years ago, the world saw the creation of a diamond backgammon board which was made by Bernard Maquin. After all these years, the set has show up again as part of the collection at the Tzoffey's 1818 Auction House Sale that will be held on May 9, 2007 at the International Colored Stone Association (ICA) Congress in Dubai.

The auction that will be held for the beautiful and enticing jewels which include diamond and colored gems as well as unfixed rough gems, like rubies and diamonds. Aside from the diamond chessboard and backgammon board, there will also be a necklace set decorated with emeralds, large sapphires and other unset gems, like a tsavorite stone from Africa.

The items that will be auctioned off can be seen by interested parties at the Al Murooj Rotana Hotel and Suite in the economic district of Dubai. The items will remain there for one week until the auction. The diamond board designated for the game of backgammon has a total of 61,082 colored diamonds built into it.

The backgammon board has a total weight of about 2071.48 carats. The diamond ensemble backgammon board took about 10,000 hours of work and is expected to fetch around $650,000-950,000.
