Hyperbackgammon is a Backgammon variant that has gained a substantial amount of attention lately as a recreation of traditional Backgammon.
How does Hyperbackgammon differ from Backgammon?
Basically, the regular Backgammon rules apply to this Backgammon variant - you score points by hitting your opponent's blots and bearing off your checkers. The doubling cube is utilized in Hypergammon as well. Thus, doubling and redoubling take place just as in regular Backgammon.
There are 2 players in this Backgammon variant and each of them begins with only 3 checkers, a checker on the opponent's points 1, 2 and 3.
Gaining points is just like in traditional Backgammon, meaning that the victor receives a point for a regular win, 2 points for a gammon, and 3 points for a backgammon. Nevertheless, the only time gammons and backgammons mean additional points is when a double has been pitched and taken in the Backgammon game.
