New Laws in Alyana, Turkey Prohibit Backgammon on Streets

On April 5th, 2008, letting your dog walk with you in the seashore or enjoying a game of backgammon on your streets will earn you a fine of YTL one hundred twenty-five in the Alyana district in the Mediterranean region, according to a recently passed municipal patrol laws.

The new set of rules and regulations, which is composed of one hundred ninety articles and is set to be publicly announced next week, features a lot of astonishing bans. Aside from the ban from walking your dog along the sea shore and from playing backgammon in your own street, those people who do not give their seats for elderly or pregnant individuals will need to pay a fine of YTL 125.

The proprietors of shops will also be held responsible for the cleanliness of their own shop. They will be fined YTL 125 if they will fail to keep the front of their shops clean. Entertainment centers like clubs and bars will be fined YTL 250 if they will fail to install security cameras. Some of the more surprising bans in Alyana are: drivers who intentionally or unintentionally splashing pedestrians with water will need to pay YTL 125 as well as drinking alcoholic refreshments in public parks and gardens and others.
