Misere Backgammon Variant (aka Backgammon to Lose)

Misere is a Backgammon variant that is almost identical to the game of Backgammon. There is just one small yet significant difference – the goal is to lose the game, hence, the alternate name Backgammon to Lose. In other words, the aim is to be the very last player to bear off every one of your checkers. When you play Backgammon to Lose, the winning player will be the last one off the board.

2 things to keep in mind when you play Misere:

  • It can be played with a doubling cube.
  • Neither gammons nor backgammons count in Misere.

When playing Misere, the games can be rather lengthy, but ultimately this Backgammon variant does come to an end.
