Old English Backgammon Variant

Old English Backgammon was most likely the leading Backgammon variant in England until the 1970's.

How does Old English Backgammon differ from Backgammon?
  1. The highest number of checkers on a single point is 5.
  2. You can play the dice roll's first number differently from the second number, which is more limited.
  3. The doubling cube is not used in this Backgammon variant, perhaps because the doubling cube is an American extension of the game of Backgammon.

Aside from these differences, Old English Backgammon is played just like regular Backgammon.
