World Series of Backgammon Premiers on European Television

The World Series of Backgammon, supported by PartyGammon.com, debuted on European television on Monday, November 6, 2006. Premiering on Eurosport, the series will be running for 8 weeks. This is the first time that competitive backgammon has been televised for the pan-European audience's consumption. Andy Bell, the World Series of Backgammon Producer, said that they are confident that The World Series of Backgammon will provide both an exciting and educational program for fans of Backgammon in Europe.

They are certain that thousands of poker fans will join backgammon fans in watching the show. The television series will show match-play backgammon action for 2 backgammon tournaments that will be held in Palm Beach Casino in Cannes. Palm Beach has hosted some of the world's best players who have ever taken part in both the Riviera Cup and the Nations Cup.

A spokesperson for Party Gammon said that they hope that the World Backgammon Series will inspire a rebirth in the interest not only in backgammon, but in the gambling industry in general. He added that backgammon is finally back on the scene since the height of its popularity in the late 1970's, and they are hoping that this trend will continue.
